Dubai: Online registration for the 42nd Gulf News Overnighter Fun Drive – the “Tilal Swaihan Experience” – has been opened from January 29, 9 am onwards.
In a notable announcement from Dubai, the 42nd Gulf News Overnighter Fun Drive named the “Tilal Swaihan Experience,” is now open for online registration starting January 29 at 9 am. Scheduled for February 10 and 11, the event will exclusively accept online registrations through www.gnfundrive.com, and preference will be given to Gulf News subscribers, with refunds for unaccepted entries.
The entry fee for adults is Dh500 (including VAT), and for children under 12, it is Dh210 (including VAT), while children under four can join for free. The Tilal Swaihan route, crafted by Route Director John Spiller, promises a diverse landscape of dunes, hills, and wadis (river valleys) in a loop format.
Spiller assured, “There is something for everyone. First-timers will also be able to complete the route without a problem.” For seasoned participants, optional ‘extra fun’ sections have been designed for added thrills and spills, catering to those with more desert dune experience.
Notably, the 2024 Gulf News Fun Drive at Tilal Swaihan marks the 38th year of the event, with 42 editions considering the occurrence of two events in some years. The first Fun Drive took place in 1986, starting as a “day drive” with 75 registered vehicles.
Supported by ADNEC Services LLC and the Department of Municipalities & Transport, Al Ain City Municipality, this year’s Fun Drive introduces GWM Tank, Al Naboodah, as the exclusive automotive sponsor, featuring Tank 300 and Tank 500, with the lead car driven by Route Director Spiller.
Checkpoint sponsors include Castrol Magnatec Dobinsons Springs & Suspension Trading LLC, Al Jazira Poultry Farms LLC, and TORC – The Off Road Company. Yokohama Geolandar serves as the official tire for the event while supporting sponsors include Al Ain Water, Karcher, Xbox, Byrne, Mister Baker, and Plastica Industries LLC.
Capital Hospitality is the designated caterer for the Fun Drive, with the Iranian Hospital serving as the medical partner and recovery managed by IATC – International Automobile and Touring Club of UAE. Adventure enthusiasts are encouraged to gear up for an exhilarating experience on the Tilal Sweihan desert dunes, promising an adrenaline-pumping adventure.
